We offer Yoga, Tai Chi, Dance, Aerobic Exercise, Singing, Art, Drum Circle, Meditation, Improv, Men's Group, Chess, Readers Theatre, Improv, Poetry, Storytelling, and an exciting array of resident-led clubs and committees. Each month our Prana Director meets with our residents to refine these workshop offerings to better reflect their interests.
Elder Ashram regularly invites local performers to the ashram to share their talents with our community. Some past resident favorites include African Music Ensemble, Tachiria Flamenco, Darlene Dhillon's Kathak Dance, Carlos Santome (Operatic Tenor), Jazz Therapists, San Francisco Bay Area Labor Solidarity Heritage Chorus, and Oakland's Youth Poet Laureate Finalists.
Celebrations, festivals, and rituals are key to a community's health and well-being. We feature a variety of events throughout the year for our community of family, friends, neighbors, and local elders. We hosted a Community Bazaar in the Spring of 2023, for our neighborhood, an intergenerational Open Mic, Celebrations of Life ceremonies, and other meaningful gatherings.
Our unique community hub exists at the intersection of creativity and care. We partner with professional and non-professional artists and community volunteers to produce projects that inspire. These creative projects include: Elder Ashram Musical!, "Listen to Your Elders" (our YouTube TV Show), Story Swap Podcast, Art with Elders, and our ongoing Guest Artist Lab.
